Discovering The Power In Me
Discovering the Power in Me utilises the best of applied cognitive psychology to provide people with disabilities, their families and others sharing their journey, with the necessary tools to develop the inner strength and resilience required to reassert control over their lives. Recognising that the process of adjustment is a lifelong journey, this program was developed in collaboration with those with disabilities, as well as with the expertise of professionals in the field.
By understanding how the mind works, how current beliefs and attitudes shape expectations for the future, individuals discover that they are in control of the way they think and can use that power to change the way the live their lives.
At any stage in the journey of recovery, hope, belief in self and reliance are essential. Building these attributes is vital. This program provides the foundation upon which these attributes can be built. Translated into practical tools and techniques, participants understand and apply the concepts, thereby laying a strong foundation for growth, change, hope and self-worth.
The program was developed by the Pacific Institute in Seattle and has expanded around the world. PQSA is the only organisation that has the licence to deliver the workshop in South Australia.
Participating in the workshop will be a personal experience as we keep each group very small, allowing each participant to feel comfortable interacting. The DPM Workshop is delivered over two consecutive days and includes a workbook and CD for your use during the workshop and for your ongoing use at home.
The Target Audience for DPM are:
- People with Spinal Cord Injury, or other pysical or neurological conditions
- Partners, family members, friends
- Support Workers
- Organisations and professionals interested in this field.
